The Munich S-Bahn has been connecting people in the city and surrounding areas for over 50 years. Two-thirds of all Bavarian passengers in local rail transport travel with it. As the backbone of public transportation it is an essential part of everyday life for about 840,000 passengers and a key element in the mobility transition. With the introduction of an entirely new vehicle generation, which will go into operation at the end of 2028, the Munich S-Bahn is preparing for the future – for a better quality of life and green mobility in the region. The Munich S-Bahn, the Free State of Bavaria and Siemens are presenting a mock-up of the new XXL S-Bahn for the first time at the IAA. The walk-in model shows a part of the new vehicle on a 1:1 scale, allowing visitors to experience the exterior design and interior fittings of the new vehicle.
