International Building Exhibitions (IBA) are a unique instrument for urban and regional development. The time-limited format pursues the objective of using innovative approaches to rethink and test forward-looking solutions for urban and regional challenges, and to present them to the public. IBAs were introduced more than 100 years ago.

Over the next ten years, we want to work hand in hand with politics, business, academia and civil society to establish the Munich Metropolitan Region as an international pioneer for future-ready, liveable and multimodal mobility – with a strong focus on design quality. Our goal is to establish a mobility culture that balances social, demographic, ecological, economic and technological dimensions – enhancing quality of life in both urban and rural areas while strengthening trustful collaboration across municipal boundaries.

The IBA is supported by a strong alliance of stakeholders, including the state capital of Munich, the cities of Augsburg and Ingolstadt, the counties of Munich and Freising, and the Munich Metropolitan Region Association.
