MINGA: Research project for automating & digitally connecting public transport.
Company profile
MINGA - Munich‘s automated public transport system, featuring ride pooling, solo buses, and
bus platoons.
In the MINGA project, we have been researching the use of automated buses and on-demand vehicles in Munich’s public transportation network since 2023, aiming for a sustainable local public transport system. Together with 16 partners from administration, research, and industry, we seek to address the technical, legal, financial, and organizational challenges associated with these important future topics in public transport, thereby making a significant contribution to the mobility transition.
The MINGA research project is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) with approximately 13 million euros until mid-2027, as part of the ‘Autonomous and Connected Driving in Public Transport’ funding guideline.
Consortium: Landeshauptstadt München, Stadtwerke München|Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft, Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund, MAN, ioki, Ebusco, Benz+Walter, fryce, Technische Universität München, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Forschungszentrum Informatik, Uni Stuttgart, Landkreis München, Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen, Yunex Traffic und Pfennigparade.
